Kolucan Mexican Bar and Grill is a full-service Mexican restaurant and bar at 6644 Gateway Avenue in Sarasota's Gulf Gate neighborhood, in the former Opus space. Co-owned by Gino Calleja of Reyna's Taqueria and Jose Rojas, it opened in 2023 with what it calls regional Mexican cuisine with modern execution - tacos, ceviche, moles, parrilladas, and fresh seafood - plus handcrafted cocktails, margaritas, tequila and mezcal, and curated wine dinners. The Frida Lounge hosts happy hour and events, and the restaurant seats around 170 across the dining room, lounge, and patio. Posted hours: lunch Mon-Fri 11am-3pm, brunch Sat-Sun 11am-3pm, dinner Mon-Sat 5pm-10pm and Sun 3pm-8pm, with lounge happy hour Wed-Sat 3pm-6pm. Reservations run through OpenTable; private dining is offered.
